LED Question
LED Question
Hi Everyone
A customer's car is fitted with an Autowatch alarm. It has a single flashing red LED.
He would like me to fit several LEDs instead of the single LED.
I'm aware that simply fitting multipe LEDs will at best not work, at worst damage the LED driver inside the alarm unit.
I'm guessing i need to use a power transistor or similar to strp up the voltage/current capabilities.
I've 'scoped the LED when it is flashing. Voltage is 2V. Guessing current is about 20mA. 1 flash per second.
So for each 2v pulse i need to switch several LEDs.
All replies gratefully received.

Re: LED Question
Yep, a transistor, a few resistors and a few LEDs will do the job. Although it is 2v we need to know what sort of pulse it is with respect to the car earth, does it pulse 2v/0v or 12v/10v?
