Help On Wiring Reed Relay Into Halloween Circuit

Post by GazzaS » Tue Oct 15, 2013 10:31 am

Hi,

I'm building a simple Halloween display which has two skeletons which I want to shake when someone walks past. I've currently successfully hacked a Battery powered LED light with PIR which provides 3v when activated and have wired up a 5v motor circuit using Xbox 360 rumble motors which successfully rattles the skeletons.

Now what I want to do is use the 3v from the PIR to trigger the 5v motor circuit. I therefore purchased the following 5v Reed Relay:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Magnetic-Shie ... 1c371edf67

Would this work and how would I wire this into the circuit? I see 4 pins, one at the far end and then three at the other end. I presume two are for the driver circuit and two are for the switched circuit but the data sheets fails to show a diagram :(

Thanks for any help.

Gary

The two pins on the longest axis are probably the switched contacts, the other two probably the coil.
If you use a meter to measure resistance you should see about 500 ohms across the coil pins.
