Hi All
Since my posting I have been thinking and right or wrong concluded:

The resolution for a 350~ VGA Splitter Box is;
1600/130x350 and 1280/130x350 given a resolution 4308 x 3446 (Pixel’s)

It would be appreciated if any member could agree or disagree with my conclusion.

Thanks

What resolution are you needing? I think your calculations are correct, but unless you need higher resolution there is little point changing. I've just been looking at specs for a full HD (1920 x 1080) LCD monitor and the bandwidth is quoted as 148MHz.

If you are after resolutions higher than the 1600 x 1200 quoted for your existing splitter then you will need the higher spec one, otherwise the existing one is fine. If in doubt check the specs for the display(s) you are using - it may be quoted there.

Is it possible to run dual monitors on a laptop that has a fairly good VGA card? I have an intel 256 mb onboard VGA card. Im able to run a monitor to extend the desktop onto another monitor but i want to be able to close the lid to my laptop and have two monitors. I try to enable the second monitor but it doesnt show up as a monitor extended from my desktop? What do i do, I tryed advanced settings and that doesnt work. Im using a y splitter could this be the problem, can you not run duals on a laptop?

I don't think you can get 2 external monitors from the onboard laptop graphics card - splitting the VGA connection will simply feed the same signal to multiple monitors. You would need 2 individual outputs on the laptop to have the desktop extended across both monitors. Of course the card probably supports dual monitors, but one of these is the internal TFT panel. However I think you can now buy USB graphics adapters (sorry I don't have a link, but a search ought to find something), so one of these plus the onboard card should allow you to do what you want. I don't know what resolution you can get with the USB graphics adapter though.

How do I get the best out of my mini vga to hdtv? I'm buying a mini vga to VGA adapter and run the vga to my hdtv as it has a vga input. I have a 32" Samsung TV. Once connected do I need to change any settings on my TV or iMac G5 (Leopard) to make the outcome look the best it can?
