Freeloader problem please?

Post by Petel » Thu Nov 11, 2010 10:54 pm

Hello All.
Have one of these basic Freeloader Solar Chargers, which I have been using for over a year, to charge my Nokia phone when required.

Suddenly, I plug it into my phone and after a short pause, message comes up on phone :-
Stop Not Charging.

Borrowed sisters identical Freeloader and adaptor for substitution test, this works fine.

Can anyone please advise if there is a known fault with these units which would cause this problem?

Many thanks, Petel

Hi,

I haven't got any experience of them, but since the phone is complaining I would think that the output voltage is either too high or too low. Does the amount of light falling on the solar panel make any difference? Try it with the panel in the dark (covered) or bright sunlight (you'll be lucky) to see if the message still appears.

Assuming it is out of guarantee I suspect the easiest solution is to replace it.
