Re: Power supplies

Hi, It depends if the adapter is actually a charger or just a power supply. From the voltage (5V) I suspect it would more likely be the latter. In this case, the charging circuit / voltage regulation will be in the handset or the base. The difference you are measuring in the actual output will be du...

Re: Resistor Calculator

Hi, You can do this - click on each resistor band, a pop-up selection box will appear. Click on the appropriate colour, and the resistance will be calculated and shown in the box. Edit: I'm not sure if you mean the online version or Electronics Assistant. With the online version you simply need to h...

Re: Problems running assistant with Win7

You've got to love windows 7's error handling - I've not yet had a problem that it was able to find a solution for  I've not had problems with EA and service pack 1, both the machines I've tried that combination on have worked OK. I'd think that it is probably related to the .NET framework, so ...

Re: Why does install require ADMINISTRATOR account?

Hi, Most users prefer the convenience of an installation program to put the files in the correct place and create shortcuts. The installer also checks that the .NET framework is installed (admittedly less of a problem these days since most people already have this), and downloads if it required. I s...

Hi,

See http://www.electronics2000.co.uk/data/i ... theory.php for the formula, or http://www.electronics2000.co.uk/calc/s ... ulator.php for the calculator. Electronics Assistant also has a calculator.

Re: CONDUCTIVITY HELP!

Hi, A stainless steel casing won't affect the discharge rate of the battery, not significantly anyway. Unless there is a poor connection, the existing aluminium casing should have a very low resistance (well under 1 ohm). Any difference in the conductivity / resistance of the new casing will only af...

Re: Waterproof Cases

Hi, See http://www.electronics2000.co.uk/data/itemsgl/iprating.php for an explanation of the IP ratings, IPx8 (probably IP68) is suitable for long term immersion. You don't say if the box will be permanently underwater in use or if it just needs to resist heavy spray / waves. You'd need to check the...

Re: GPS-622R & Soldering

I'd try to plug the module into your board if possible, mainly to make it easy to remove again if necessary. However I would think you would be fine to solder to it if your soldering skills are good and you do the job quickly to avoid overheating the module. It might be worth allowing it to cool aft...

Re: Windows 7 64-bit fix for 1.4

Thanks Deepcut. Found another problem last night - the print setup dialog box won't open. Have fixed this for upcoming new version. Just need to find the time to get the rest of it finished. If anyone finds any other problems with the current version, post them here and I'll make sure they are fixed...

Re: Freeloader problem please?

Hi, I haven't got any experience of them, but since the phone is complaining I would think that the output voltage is either too high or too low. Does the amount of light falling on the solar panel make any difference? Try it with the panel in the dark (covered) or bright sunlight (you'll be lucky) ...
