Basic Power Adapter Advice
Basic Power Adapter Advice
Firstly I'm a complete novice with electronics and don't know what any of the items in the attached pics are called or what the connections are called (except the power adapter). I know nothing about Volts, Amps, Watts etc which is why I'm here!
The items came with a device I ordered from France and I want to replace them with a sinlge UK power adapter or replace the middle item with a 3-pin equivalent (cheaper option). I think you would agree what they sent me is pretty poor form.
1. Is the adapter in this link a suitable replacement?: https://www.amazon.co.uk/CUGLB-Universa ... way&sr=8-1
2. Also what is the middle item called or more accurately what is the 3-pin version called AND where can I buy one?
I live in Northern Ireland.
Thanks

Re: Basic Power Adapter Advice
There is a huge number of different plugs, sockets, and adapters throughout the world, some well made and some rubbish. It is always better to use the smallest number of adapters as possible.
1. What is the item you want to power? Check the voltage supply that it requires, and set the rotary switch on the power supply to match. Check that the maximum output of the power supply does not exceed 2A. This info will usually be somewhere on the device.
2. The middle item in your pic is probably just another adapter, or it may be specifically the item which adapts the left hand black PSU to the right hand white UK socket, but it is a good idea to have something which plugs in directly to the domestic supply.
Hope this helps
