Help with Tantalum Caps
Help with Tantalum Caps
I'm Building DC-AC Inverter, in provided schematics, I have bought all parts except capacitors.
Guy who made project says to use tantalums , not "drip" , I assume the small ones with a dip but he says i quote "they look like an electrolytic but are usually silver or gray in color, the rated voltage should be 50 volts or better".
I found an image of a similar cap, the ones which I think are "dip" are crossed red, and one I look for is shown with green arrow.
If someone knows the manufacturers of these types of things, it would be appreciated.
I live in Croatia, and can't find Anything in local store, except so called "SMD Tantalums", would they do the trick?
But rated voltage is below 50 volts and I should combine lot of them to get right capacitance (68 uF).
They offer only 10 uF SMD 35V (x6) + 6,8 25V (parallel), I'd get a 68 uF 25 V capacitor, so my question is if I can get Right caps (capacitance and voltage) from somewhere, or try these ones.

Re: Help with Tantalum Caps
The two you have crossed out are tantalums, the one with the arrow pointing to it is an axial electrolytic.
I don't know if there's been some error in translation, but tantalum capacitors look like a 'drip' on legs! Only the surface mount ones are brick shaped. Also, you will have difficulty getting 50v rated tantalums, as the maximum voltage rating on all the ones I have seen is 35v....
Maybe he means polyester capacitor like these

Re: Help with Tantalum Caps
Hi Guys, Hope you can help me with this one. I have some caps exactly like the two in this post shown crossed out but am not at all sure what they actually are nor can i remember where i got them.
The only markings are as follows 10 - 16 printed vertically , then underneath is printed ++ 2 , the 2 being in a circle.
Other than those markings there is none other.
Fairly new back into electronics after giving it all away over 30 years ago and boy have there been a lot of changes.
Just identifying some components around these days is damn difficult.
Don't know how this actually works as I just joined today, Health is not the best and I am a bit forgetful
Don't know if I need to come back here to view any responses or if I will get an email to say I have a response, either way thanks in advance to any one that can help.
Cheers all - cocosoft
Also looking around for the most comprehensive guide to caps types and how to read them - with pictures that I can find - found some but not really comprehensive.
Hey - Cheers again I'm out of here
