Making an electronic motorised pulley for dolly slider
Making an electronic motorised pulley for dolly slider
Hi there,
Firstly let me introduce myself! My name is Brian from Worthing. I own a project recording studio and have just got into amateur film work - it's all very exciting!
I recently made a dolly and track for my camera and was looking at getting it to run smoothly by attaching a servo and controller to
regulate it's speed. I'm trying to follow this example http://cheesycam.com/motorizing-the-jui ... iy-slider/
The problem is that to order the kit mentioned from the US would set me back £100, so I started investigating my options over here.
Today I bought a kit from Maplin which I thought could help - it comprised of a servo, micro connecting board, power stick and AA battery compartment. The problem was the servo is not continuous (it moves only 180 degrees either left or right), and the power stick just moves the servo motor left or right - I need to be able to literally turn the servo on, let it run continuously, and be able to control both it's speed and direction.
Being a complete noob I'm now at a standstill and was wondering if you guys can offer some advice, either on how to reuse what I've bough from Maplin and modify it (by adding to it for example), or whether I should write off my purchase and buy something completely different. Any advice or pointers in the right direction is greatly appreciated!
Regards from the South Coast,
Brian
