Need help increasing the torque on my Nema 17 Stepper motor
I am very new to all of this but I am trying to create a robot to turn a Rubik's cube automatically and currently the motors are having trouble turning the sides of the cube. The Nema 17 stepper motor is currently connected to a 12V 2A power supply and it seems to keep slipping no matter what I try. If i give even a little bit of force to help it begin the turn it can then complete the turn with no issues. I have attached the code I am running and a copy of the motor's datasheet and a very rough diagram of my setup. Any advice/things I could try to increase the torque of the motor would be greatly appreciated!

I would check the stepper driver current limit first, as the motor may not be getting enough current from the driver. Also, adding a gearbox or reducing the mechanical load can make a huge difference for a Rubik's cube robot.null's brawl на ios

The driver current setting is definitely worth checking, but I would also look at the acceleration and starting speed in the code. A Nema 17 can have plenty of holding torque yet still skip steps if it is asked to start too fast under load.Null's Brawl

The first thing I would check is the driver’s current limit because the motor may not be getting enough current to develop the torque you need. Then I would lower the acceleration and starting speed, as the engine seems to have problems starting the rotation. I would also check the motor coils are wired correctly and the mechanism is not creating too much resistance. If the problem persists, a gear reduction can significantly boost the torque available to spin the cube.
