RT? marked component on PCB but what is it??

Post by BALLY123 » Sun Mar 22, 2009 7:57 pm

Hi Trying to repair a motorcycle ignition unit. There is a component that has broken off the board. The board has RT marked adjacent to the tracks. So what is it??? It has 2 legs and is coin shaped, approx 4mm in diameter and 1.5mm thick. Colur appears to be greyish but it had a heat shrunk sleeve over it originally.

Other board markings are more familiar to me such as R2, c10, D1, Reg etc...but htis one has me stumped!

Any help is greatly appreciated.....

Without seeing the component, it sounds from your description it's some sort of Thermistor (PTC). RT is usually the associated reference designator for those components (IEC 61346).
