Re: Need to make ac/ac power supply Help
Hello. You have found a transformer which may well be suitable. Two 6.3V windings might be ok as you would not be running the transformer at full output, and you could have a voltage nearer to 7.5V from this cause. However, it is difficult to be sure at a distance - can you give me any more info? 7....

Re: Need to make ac/ac power supply Help
Probably not. Transformers are specified in VA (Volts * Amps) because the manufacturer does not know what type of load will be used - capacitive, resistive or inductive - , and so cannot supply a Wattage rating as the phase angle can vary drastically. I would suggest that you use a 2A (15 VA) transf...

Re: Speaker mic
The only thing that you need worry about is low impedance in the cable. Use the thickest wire that you can find - don't let the total impedance go above 5% or so of the speaker impedance. Beware of sharks trying to sell you snake oil.

Re: Basic Power Adapter Advice
There is a huge number of different plugs, sockets, and adapters throughout the world, some well made and some rubbish. It is always better to use the smallest number of adapters as possible. 1. What is the item you want to power? Check the voltage supply that it requires, and set the rotary switch ...

Re: Ribbon Cable
Offhand, I don't know. Google is the first go-to place for all sorts of electronic stuff, including connectors. There are also technical data and pin-outs details on this site - see above.
Ribbon cable can be found easily.
Hope this helps

Re: Component ID and replacement
Google is the universal guru. Look up "finder 40.61", and look for a 250V 16A contact set. Get a specification if poss. Sometimes manufacturers will omit unused pins. The capacitor should be equally easy to find - it is probably a 0.22 microfarad job, but there is no indication of the volt...

Re: Over current protection
Is this to be an add-on to a proprietary power supply, or one you have built? Do you have circuit diagrams? What are the output voltages, and the limiting current you wish to achieve?
This is not normally a difficult matter to implement, but more details please!

Re: 22nf 4000v Capacitor
I have looked at this thread again, and also checked out the spec and circuit diagram of the HP 1744. This seems to be quite a good scope, and one that would probably well repay servicing. The 22nf cap will be in the HV part of the circuit, and the circuit diagram in some parts refers to a 3kV poten...
