Re: Isolating a shower

Hello. I am still not quite sure why you have solenoid valves to shower and toilet. Is it possible that they are items that are roughly the same size as a 15mm compression coupler, with just a small screwdriver slot on the side to act as an inline tap? I am asking because I cannot think of any reaso...

Re: Isolating a shower

Shouldn't be too difiicult to arrange. what solenoid valves are you intending using? Can you post a schematic of your idea? I must make my warning here - you will be working with mains voltages, so beware. Make sure that everyting is safe. BTW, assuming that the cold water supply is piped to both to...

Re: NPN and relay

You can't just replace a NPN transistor with a PNP one (and vice versa) and expect it to work. The circuitry would need to be changed to accommodate the altered polarity. You will need to find out the chacteristics of the faulty transistor (current and voltage handling, gain and dissipation are the ...

Re: problem on transistor

I cannot open your link. Please post a pic of the circuit board. How do you know the transistor is at fault? Do you have a circuit diagram?

Re: LED frequency with DC vs AC power source

Leds emit light whenever current flows (in the correct direction). Hence a DC supply will produce a continuous light output. AC power, by definition, is where the current flows back and forth in the circuit, and as such, it will switch off momentarily as the current passes through zero. Above a comp...

Re: Change resistor inside LED illuminated switch?

Can you post a pic of the switch, please? It may well be possible. There is an excellent calculator on this site for working out the values of resistors to give different LED currents. Top LHS on this page.

Re: Speaker mic

I assume the two radios are similar. The short answer is "probably". It would certainly help if you could post pics on the insides of each radio, for comparison. Not quite sure what you are trying to do in the last paragraph. You may well need to examine the aux socket carefully - some hav...

Re: Small motor queries

Grifftapher does not give any idea of how the project will be powered. If low voltage batteries are going to be used then my warning is not needed. If the mains supply is used, there must be adequate insulation in all areas so that it becomes impossible for anyone to receive a lethal shock. That is ...

Re: Small motor queries

Hello. This sounds like a project which is very suitable for the use of two timers from the 555 family. Use one for the initial delay, and the second for the timing of the open time of the door. You may well have to use a relay connected to the output of timer two to switch the motor, but this will ...

Re: Help with gerber file format please

Sorry I have not had any experience with this, but I think that you will be able to find most - if not all - of the information you need by googling "gerber file". The net is usually the first place to try.
