These transformers seem to have disapeared since the solid state age. Anyone know ?

You do not state whether wire wound or carbon or wattage I do not think you would get a carbon low wattage.

7805 cheap as chips in Maplins. remember to put 2 .1ufd capacitors from in and out to ground.
