Can anyone out there explain the difference and characteristics twixt a PTC thermistor and a NTC thermistor?

Regards to all,

Hi

NTC (negative temperature coefficient) thermistors are more common, the resistance drops as the temperature increases. Positive temperature coefficient termistors have the opposite relationship - the resistance increases as the temperature increases.

If you look in a catalogue you will see that the resistance is normally quoted for a specific temperature (generally 25 deg. C) - different types are available with different resistance ranges.
