Hi all
I need some help with an item ..
The easiest way to describe it is as a torch / flash light

The torch/flashlight is currently made from Aluminium with a rechargeable battery , and uses the body of the torch as the negative .
If the body was made from stainless steel instead , I know it will still work , and I know stainless isnt a great conductor but what i need to know is
what detremental effect would this have on the rechargeable battery?
would it discharge at a higher rate etc.. ?

Thanks in advance .
Kind Regards

Hi,

A stainless steel casing won't affect the discharge rate of the battery, not significantly anyway. Unless there is a poor connection, the existing aluminium casing should have a very low resistance (well under 1 ohm). Any difference in the conductivity / resistance of the new casing will only affect the current through the lamp very slightly, certainly not enough to make any noticeable difference to battery life.
