Please help with the mysterious resistor
Please help with the mysterious resistor
Dear all,
I kindly ask you to help me to identify the resistor technical characteristics. I have tried various online software for color-coding but not helpful.
I do not understand the meaning of the last white band on the resistor.
If you are familiar please give me your valuable advice.
Thank you in advance.
Best regards,
David

Re: Please help with the mysterious resistor
Hello
If the colours are (L to R) red, black, black, gold, then it is probably a 20 ohm resistor. I am likewise puzzled with the white bands, but these may well be extra bands to denote type of resistive material, stability, voltage rating (yes, resistors do have them!) and so on.
Look at the resistance calculators on the first page of this site - very useful.
Put a multimeter across the resistor and see if that gives the resistance it should.
Post the results when you have found out.
