Remote switch

I need to build a project where I can switch on or off several LEDs independantly of each other, the problem is that the signal has to go down a single wire which all of the LED control circuits are connected to. I may need to produce a lot of these, so I want to make this as cheap as possible. Does anyone have any ideas?
