How do I pulse a motor

Hi,

I have a very basic circuit. A 25v dc psu powers a 25v/1 amp peak motor with a switch controlling motor on/off.

What I need is when the switch is thrown (and stays thrown) the motor then turns 4-8 revolutions (about a second) and then stops.
To repeat this function, the switch would be un-thrown, and than thrown again, each time operating the motor for a second or so.

Any suggestions ?

You could use a delay on timer, using the normally closed contact (which opens after power is applied for the set time). Switch closes, powers the timer and the motor, the timer expires and stops the motor. The power then has to be dropped off the timer to reset it.

Depends what sort of motor it is.
If it is a stepper motor it can be made to do tricks.
