Electronics Asistant bug?
Electronics Asistant bug?
I have just downloaded the new version of the Assistant, as I had been having trouble with updating the older one.
The same problem still appears - a window stating that "the procedure entry point RtlHashUnicodeString could not be located in the dynamics link library ntdll.dll".
This appears if I try to update to newer version from the Help button.
Any suggestions as to what the problem is?

Re: Electronics Asistant bug?
Hi.
I've no idea off-hand, but could tell me the following to try to pin the problem down:
Check what version on the .NET framework you have installed (it should be listed on the Add / Remove programs window in Control Panel). You may have several versions (1.1, 2.0, 3.5 etc) if so could you list them all.
What version of Windows are you using?
Does the program always occur? I've noticed checking for updates has been a bit slow recently, I think my hosts may have had problems at the time.
In the mentime I'll see if I can find any info on the probem.
Edited to add:
I've just come accross this - check if it is applicable:

Re: Electronics Asistant bug?
As far as I can see, it is version 4.1.
our system is Win2000, SP4
I suppose it could be an internal problem and, in any case, I can always check the website for updates.

Oh, I forgot. There are no problems with the program, it is only when I try searching for updates from the Help button.

Re: Electronics Asistant bug?
The bug mentioned on the page I linked to related to Windows 2000 or earlier so it could be applicable. Could you check if it is? You'll probably need to enable the 'show hidden files' option windows in order to see the offending dll file.
Re: Electronics Asistant bug?
As a matter of interest, I located that file, uxtheme.dll, and renamed it, but the error message still comes up.
There must be another explanation.

Did you restart the computer afterwards? I'm guessing you probably need to for it to take effect.
Re: Electronics Asistant bug?
You are probably right. I'll do it tomorrow, as I have a lot of work in progress at the moment.
If it is successful, I'll let you know.
