What Capacitor
Hi,
Could anyone tell me how I work out what size of Capacitor I need for a Pump that I have. The Pump is for the discharge cycle on a Washing Machine. The only problem is that the Washing machine is 50Hz, but the supply (Generated) is 60Hz. This makes the pump operate incorrectly. Interestingly enough, I have two more exact same washing machines and they operate ok. I have tested several of these pumps and some seem to work and some don't.
So my plan is, to add a capacitor accross the pump connections in order to help filter the problem. But I am unsure how to work it out. The pump is 220/240VAC 50Hz 30W. I'm afraid thats all the info I have.
Thanks for your help

Re: What Capacitor
Try 100nF to start with.
MAke sure it is mains rated 250VAC
