Voltage Proving Unit
Voltage Proving Unit
There exists on the market certain items called 'Proving Units'. The idea of these is to prove that electrical testing equipment (Voltage detectors / indicators) work before testing mains electricity. These units are £70+, and consist of two small terminals on the front of a small plastic enclosure, say 15cn x 10cm. These terminals are where the probes [of the tester] are placed, with the resultant effect of lighting up the LEDs on the tester to prove its operation.
Is it feasible to build one, with an output of 600-1000v DC from a battery source of 12v DC? And what would the electronic terminology be for such a piece of equipment?
Many thanks
