128 x 160 TFT LCD display

Post by eddieprice » Sat Jun 09, 2018 10:35 am

I am a model rail enthusiast and I want to use a small display to show which routes have been selected. I have been looking at the Raspberry Pi Zero to control a display by means of the SPI data bus. I should say I haven't used either the Pi or SPI before, but I have used PICs and assembler to control the PIC. As an alternative to the Pi I am wondering whether I should stick to PICs. I note that there are now PICs with SPI interfaces, eg a PIC 16F15323 is a 14 pin device with a DIL package, which makes pcb assembly easier.

Has anyone any experience of using either the Pi or a PIC to drive a TFT display?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
