Post by Billy.0011 » Fri Feb 26, 2016 9:24 pm

Hi, i could do with some help with this project. Here is the schematic but instead of using a single LED i would like to use a LED strip, could anyone help with any changes i need to make.
P.S. i'm fairly new to all of this.
Thanks Billy :D

Should not be difficult. Do you know the ratings of the LED strip - voltage, current? are the LEDs to be in series or parallel? You might like to look under the Calculators section of this site to give you some background info.

If you want a more on/off switch then consider a darlington pair transistor. The BC547 has a gain of 110 to 800 which will depend on the voltage at it's base-emitter and a collector current of 100mA. Darlington pairs have a much higher gain.

Hi. You could also use a Mosfet in the transistor position though you might need a heatsink depending on the current drain of your LED strip.

A BUZ72L or similar would work well.
