Re: error after install (Arial font doesn't support 'regular')

Hi, I think someone encountered this before, but can't recall what the solution was. What version of Windows are you running? Are you trying to update from a previous version or do a new installation? If you are able to post a screenshot of the error message this would be useful. Do you know if you ...

Re: Being asked to check for updates

Hurrah! Good to know it's sorted, re-installing everything is always painful - especially downloading all the Windows updates. Perhaps worth taking an image you can restore to in the future?

Re: File uploading

Hi Spike,

It looks as if pdf files weren't allowed, along with other document types - doc etc. I've enabled these, so you should now be able to upload a pdf file. I'll attach a test file to this post to check it works.

Sorry for the inconvenience, I'm surprised no-one has spotted this before.

Re: Being asked to check for updates

How odd. Electronics Assistant doesn't use the registry, so you can rule that out (version 3 did, but version 4 stores everything in the two xml files). I've just checked the code, and it is supposed to silently check for updates every 10 days, only showing a message if there is a new version, or if...

Re: Being asked to check for updates

Hi David, Sorry for the late reply, I've only just seen this. I'm not quite sure what's going on, I've not had any issues or reports from other users about similar problems on Windows 7 using the latest version - older versions that were released prior to Windows 7 did have issues. When does the sof...

Re: error after install

That's great, glad it's working. Hopefully this will be useful if anyone else has the same problem - I'll amend the title to make it easier to find.

Re: error after install

Hi, Someone else had this problem a few years back, the trouble is I can't remember the outcome or find any of the correspondence about it! I think it boils down to the font 'Arial' either missing entirely, or the 'regular' style of the font missing or somehow not usable. You could check in control ...

Re: Being asked to check for updates

Hi David, I'm assuming this is Electronics Assistant so I've moved the topic. What versions of Electronics Assistant and Windows are you running? Current version of EA is 4.31.
